Jonn is an Economics & Political Science graduate from Columbia University in New York City. After a stint at the United Nations and the abandonment of the dream to become a career diplomat, he has worked in various fields including legal services marketing, technology start-ups, venture capital / angel funding, brand consulting and pre-IPO preparatory work.

 

In 2004, he pursued a personal interest in documentary film making, attaining a MFA in film. He directs and produces social and marine-related content.

 

A zealous weekend warrior, he is in the water as a NAUI Scuba Diving / NAUI Technical Diving Instructor and Freediving Instructor. An avid freediver, his personal static breath-hold record is 6 minutes. Jonn is also the Founder and Resident Instructor of the Project X Team, the largest and most active not-for-profit extreme sports group in Hong Kong.

 

He joined Shark Savers in 2010 as a Volunteer Leader for Hong Kong, and subsequently became Regional Director for Asia Pacific, covering the five key beachheads of Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan. A Chinese Singaporean, he is launching Shark Savers Asian teams, motivating grassroots volunteer networks and forming partnerships in the region.
